The increasing need to develop our communities has never been more prevalent that we see today in our societies. When community development is effective there is less crime, less disparity between individuals, better jobs become available, a more talented workforce and less overall issues that impact the residents of a community. Community development takes the collaboration between individuals and groups to work together to solve problems. This course enables individuals to increase their knowledge of the processes and procedures and improve competency in key areas of community development. The Level 3 Certificate is composed of both mandatory and optional units. The mandatory units reflect the essential areas of community development: the knowledge-based units on the purpose, values and processes of community development, collective working with groups and understanding diversity within communities. The competence-based units enable people to develop and demonstrate their skills in the basics of community development practice; these units relate to inclusive group work, assessing community needs, and reflective/ competent practice. The Certificate units are designed to enable you to investigate specific areas of work that will enhance community provision.
